CIPR Corporate and Financial

As the global pandemic disrupted another year of in-person events, the Corporate and Financial Group continued to adapt and maintained momentum by hosting a series of media talks throughout the year, with speakers from the Financial Times, CNBC International, The Times, Daily Mail, Evening Standard and Citywire.

With a big focus on climate and sustainability in 2021, the Corporate and Financial Group hosted a discussion on ‘The Future of ESG’ and were joined by speakers from Prudential, Accenture and Candriam Asset Management.

CIPR Crisis Communications Network

The newly-launched Crisis Communications Network was formed in response to the growing demand towards reputation protection and risk management. They aimed to provide the CIPR and wider PR community with current thinking and insights through webinars, blogs, and social media output. They had over 300 registrants for their first event - ‘Crisis Preparedness: Building Reputation Resilience in a Post-Pandemic World’. In December they joined other groups to take part in our post-COP26 Climate Change event series.

CIPR Health

2021 served as an opportunity for the Health Group to continue their work improving mental health in the industry and supporting healthcare workers to communicate during the pandemic.

The group’s Mental Health Taskforce were tasked with progressing at pace the work around mental health for our industry, following the launch of the iprovision Mental Health Hotline in 2020. They were pivotal in our cross-industry ‘Heard Mentality’ campaign - a joint industry initiative with the PRCA and the Healthcare Communication Association to encourage PR professionals to take positive action on their mental health.

This project was followed by a timely and important guide to communicating a suicide.

CIPR Inside

The Inside Group dedicated their efforts to research and collaboration in 2021 as they launched the Line Manager Communications survey – a bi-annual research project to discover the ownership and importance placed on line manager communication in organisations. They also supported Gatehouse’s State of the Sector Internal Communications survey to explore several themes, including how organisations have drawn on the potential of digital to better connect their people.

CIPR Tourism and Hospitality Sector Network

Following their launch in June 2021, the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Network hit the ground running by setting up events and hosting discussions on comms responses to consumer sentiment and other PR challenges as the rebounding sector faces a fast-changing marketplace and increasing focus on sustainability.
